Personal branding shoots are a big investment.
Deciding to spend your hard-earned cash on pictures of yourself can be a difficult move and, for most of my clients, requires a bit of a leap of faith.
In this blog I’ll explain the personal branding shoot process I follow when you book a branding shoot – and why it involves so much more than just the three or six hours where I’m actually taking your photos.
First steps
Most of my clients come via the contact form on my website, where they will have provided some basic information about themselves and the type of pictures they’re looking for.
Once I’ve received this, I’ll be in touch to arrange a date, before sending over my contract and an invoice for your deposit (which is usually around 20% of the total cost).
The getting-to-know-you bit
Once you’ve paid your deposit we’ll have a Zoom call where we’ll go through the plans for your shoot in more detail.
I’ll talk to you about your brand values, the image you hope to convey and the locations we’re going to use.
If you don’t have clearly defined brand values, or aren’t really sure what that even means, don’t worry! Before I set up my photography business I worked in marketing for many years, so will use my experience in this area to help you get clear on who you are and what you represent.
I ask everyone to create a Pinterest board before this call, as it’s a great way for you to get a feel for the types of images you’re after – and a massive help for me when it comes to seeing inside your mind!
There’s more info here on other things you can do to prepare for your shoot, which will be helpful to think about before this call.
The logistics
During the Zoom call we’ll arrange locations and exact timings.
Whether you’re in Nottingham, Derby, Leicester, or elsewhere in the East Midlands, if you’ve booked a half-day (three hour) shoot there will need to be no more than 15 minutes’ drive between locations. If locations are further apart you will need to consider a full day.
Another crucial thing to think about is whether you will need anyone else in the pictures with you – and who you’re going to ask to do it. I recommend using friends or family members so you feel totally comfortable, and we’ll always make sure we shoot these pictures at the start of the day so that they’re free to go as soon as possible.
After the shoot
I aim to get all pictures to you within two to three weeks of a shoot, in the form of an online gallery.
Typically, there will be between 120 and 150 images for you to download.
There’s also the option of ordering greeting cards, calendars etc for an additional fee.
The pictures will be stored in the cloud for six months and must be downloaded within this time.
Getting social
I love the fact I get to work with such a range of brilliant business owners and really enjoy sharing your pictures and stories on my social media. You can see examples on my Instagram and LinkedIn .
I’ll also create a blog about the shoot for this website where I’ll include links to your business. Every little bit of SEO helps!
One last thing
If you’re happy with the pictures, I would love it if you could leave me a Google review. Every single one means so much to me – but I’m totally rubbish at remembering to ask for them, so putting it here just in case!
If you are looking for a relaxed and friendly brand and headshot photographer in the East Midlands – get in touch! I believe I have the skills to convey your passion in pictures. More information about my packages is here.
